The Healing Team

Someone at our last but one monthly get together said that it was a long time since there was an article on the subject of the healing team in the magazine. This article is firstly to let you know that the healing team is still alive and active and to let you know something of what goes on.

At the 9.30 service on a Sunday morning you may have noticed one or two members of the healing team in the south transept before the service starts sat just below the watchful eye of Mary and the infant Jesus. The purpose is to offer up to God in prayer the worship, Fr John, the preacher, Voyagers, Revelation and anything else that might be going in or around church during that day. Often this involves praying with Fr John, Terry or Elizabeth. We believe as a team that it is important to cover the service with prayer as people are coming into church.

Perhaps you will be familiar with what occurs during Communion when two healing team members are available to pray with anyone who feels a need for prayer at that time. If no one comes, then prayers are said for you, the congregation and any situation that the two healing team members are aware of. It is during this time that your prayers would really be appreciated to help bring God's love and healing touch through the Holy Spirit to whatever situation is being prayed about.

We also meet together once a month to pray together, share experiences and to explore and talk about a myriad of issues to do with the healing ministry. One aspect that we have discussed at length is where the best place for the ministry is on a Sunday morning. We have tried several places within the church and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. If you have not used us before because you find the location unhelpful, please let us know. If you would prefer to be prayed with after the service when it's a little quieter again let us know.

As a worshiping community we owe a debt of gratitude to Margaret Hayes who has followed her vision for the healing ministry in this church. Without her, this place would be much poorer so please remember her in your prayers.

Currently the healing team consists of Fr John, Elizabeth Pook, Terry Winrow, Margaret Hayes, Bruce Blaine, Betty Cooke, Sharon Drummond, Billy Drummond, Sue Goodwin, Sandra Goodyear, Barbara McKenzie, Carole Neal, Raymond Obin, Christine Popplewell, Alan Pook, and Kathy Winrow.
